it's hard to keep trying to find diplomatic ways to couch my increasing exhaustion with the girlsway formula. even at the height of my interest in the site, i never watched every scene in a month, and doing so now just drives home how banal and slipshod the basic structure of a girlsway scene is. introduce characters (throw in a gratuitous shot of the girlsway website if possible), have them to chatter about nothing for about three minutes, have one of them bring up sex to the other's shock and possible intrigue, establish a backstory of sexual disappointment/inexperience, get actually sexual, get the surprised reaction shot that can be plastered on the scene's branding and gifed for tube-site advertising, then run through the five to six positions with a great deal of noise and repeating of the premise in dialogue. bonus points if the performers are visibly struggling to come up with things to say because you haven't cast decent improvisers.
christie stevens and alexis fawx are fine. i might prefer it when both of them pitch their performance in a less helium range, but whatever. they're pros, they know what they're doing. it's girlsway's monthly anal scene, so they impart some professional knowledge about proper technique. it's also apparently a sequel to christie's mommy's girl scene with india summer and adriana chechik from last october, because why not. sure. oh, right, girlsway was originally supposed to be a desperate housewives kind of endless soap opera with recurring characters. so was girlfriends, long ago. weird that high volumes of production shoved that kind of high concept aside for a more factory-line process. weird.
bizarrely, the scene starts with a handheld camera, whirling around christie and alexis as they greet each other. if it were any site but girlsway i wouldn't even think to mention it, but their static tripod shooting is such a signature that a mobile, bobbing-and-weaving camera projects a sense of life and vitality into the first thirty seconds of the scene that is immediately drained away when they enter the bedroom and the tripod camera struggles to follow them five feet. i assume they used the handheld because they ran out of time to do a full setup for the entrance scene; and it's not very good handheld shooting, with light bleed all over the place and awkward framing. but once it disappears the scene's descent into girlsway convention is all the more obvious. at least the bulk of the scene taking place at night allowed for some nice mood lighting.
fuck stills by alan, may he never return. i'm writing this so much later in the year that i know he's not returning to girlsway and i know what he's doing instead. but just for the record.
