amber d and julia rain in “girls night in”
scene title: girls night in
performers: amber d, julia rain
site: viv thomas (metart)
production credits: sandra shine (dir.), frank mirror (ed.)
trailer
perhaps the slightest and least compelling of sandra shine's directorial efforts for the vivthomas brand this month. it's beautifully shot, but even by the story-free standards of the site the intro is lackadaisical: houseware-porn closeups of amber d preparing popcorn for a tv night, then she sits down on a couch and pretends to watch tv, julia rain joins her, the popcorn goes everywhere, julia plucks it out of amber's nightie, they kiss.
maybe if either of them demonstrated a scintilla of personality it might be more engaging, but they're both very new (their only previous credits seem to have been for sexart in the past month) and although they perform sex perfectly adequately (sandra shine can nearly always be relied on for that), their total lack of communication means that the sex is never very involving: it can only be picturesque, never visceral.
but the pictures are exquisite. the lighting is spectacular, the cameras ideally placed and perfectly choreographed to capture everything at in the most beautiful manner possible. i've had my quarrels with the editing before in vivthomas scenes, but it worked perfectly here, neither too abrupt nor too languorous, with no off-camera distractions. my one real complaint about the imagery is that for a scene supposedly set at night the windows behind them glare pure white (which unless there is sunny fog directly outside is not what windows ever look like to human eyes as opposed to camera lenses), but it works as an aesthetic choice if not as verisimilitude.
i wish that either metart or sandra shine herself would attempt more ambitious work commensurate with her talent for beautiful imagery. there have been actual stories told on vivthomas not that long ago, and a spot of narrative would go a long way towards imbuing the performers with personality and giving a context and structure to the sex. but i realize that would also be more expensive, since experienced performers who can pull off dialogue and emotions don't work as cheaply as brand-new ukrainians, and like every other site vivthomas has their monthly schedule to keep up with. but i can dream.
