i guess this demonstrates the perils of generalization. i don't care for amateur porn, i don't care for porn where no one says anything, i don't care for porn without any kind of setup or preamble... except when i do.
not that i absolutely adored this scene. all the usual abbywinters flaws were there: bad camerawork, garish and unpleasant decor, awful lighting, endless yawning takes where nothing much is happening. but the two performances at the center, so intimate and involved that it hardly seems fair to call them performances, really worked this time. even though neither of them spoke more than two or three sentences all hour, and never above a murmur, their connection was strong throughout. checking the abbywinters website, this seems to be nikolina's first shoot, and only elin's second (i have no idea what their performance history outside of abbywinters is, of course). if they weren't particularly feeling each other during this session they did a great job of simulating it. and because they never seemed to be posing for the camera, their movements could be awkward and tentative; which second-hand embarrassed me more than it charmed me, but it did make the passion that built up between them seem genuine.
at the beginning of the scene it seems that nikolina will be the slightly more dominant of the two, but as it progresses elin is so relentless in her attack on nikolina's erogenous zones that the latter seems utterly exhausted and stupefied by the end. which isn't something you frequently see in more polished porn productions, so once more i can see the appeal of the amateur style. but the visuals are too ugly (even artificially ugly; the actual space they were in seemed like it might be nice if they took down all the weirdly-patterned fabric abbywinters keeps using) and the pacing to relaxed for me to want to slog through it in search of the occasional performance gem like this.
i am glad that after about twenty years of knowing it was around, i finally watched some of abbywinters' pornography. increase in knowledge and understanding is a good in itself. but i won't be sorry to never have to watch any ever again.
