if the first scene from is it wrong she's my stepmom? 3 fell down on the performances, and the second scene fell down on the editing, the third one falls down on the lighting. i appreciate the attempt to give each scene a distinct visual identity, from the green of scene one to the orange of scene two, but the muted marble brown that dominates here is not only less visually striking, but because of the heavy shadows that fall across the room, it's muddy and indistinct. the performer's faces are often in shadow, which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing if it were done artfully and intentionally, but here it just seems sloppy, as though someone forgot to turn on an overhead light.
(of course i don't know the limitations they had on the day. this may be the best that could have been achieved in the space and with the time alotted; turning on more lights might have made it look ten times worse. but all i have to judge on are results.)
sarah vandella is a strong perfomer (i've seen her play villain roles frequently), but here, although she commits strongly to the sex, she makes little attempt to keep the fantasy of the premise established in kate's opening voiceover going, at least until kate goes down on her and her mouth is free to come out with some dirty talk. she's still not up to kenzie taylor's level in the previous scene, but kenzie was aided by the fact that there was any buildup at all to the sex: here, sarah just walks in on kate, they smirk at each other, and start to kiss.
this is the second time i've seen kate kennedy here now, and i'm sorry to say she hasn't left much of an impression beyond being game. (in fact i like what i've seen of her twitter better than her scenes.) she may be entirely sincere in her expressions of enjoyment during sex, but they're so repetitive that i get antsy. maybe someday i'll get to see her in something that allows her to express her personality rather than just hopping straight into the standard positions.
